Summary: Jeannette terns 8 years old, and a kid named Billy moves to Battle Mountain. Billy is 11 years old, and he really likes Jeannette. One day he takes her to his house. They get into a fight and Jeannette leaves. The next day Billy gives her a ring. Jeannette takes it, but she doesn't want people to think that her and Billy are boyfriend and girlfriend so she doesn't wear it. While they're playing hide and seek Billy tries to kiss her but she bites him, and he stops. Billy is mad, so that next day he goes to Jeannette's house while her parents aren't home. He takes his BB gun, and shouts them. Lori runs up-stairs to get their dads gun. She comes back and tries to shout him. He ducks, and runs away. The family decides to go to Phoenix to get away from the cops.

Character development: Jeanette has lots of friends, and is happy. She doesn't want to do anything to cause her family trouble.

Setting: The live in Battle Mountain. It's hot out, but there's school so it's most likely in spring or fall.

Quote: Rose tells Jeannette, " He doesn't have all the advantages you kids do." when Jeannette tells her about Billy and how she doesn't like him. I think it's important because Rose thinks that her kids are lucky compared to Billy. Her kids are loved and Billy isn't. She thinks that her kids should be nice to him because nobody really likes him.
