Summary: In this chapter Jeannette falls out of the moving car and her family doesn't relize for a long time. When they come back for her, Rex cleans her up. They go to Las Vegas so Rex can win some money at casinos. The casinos figure out that Rex is cheating, and the Walls family has to move again.They go to San Francisco, and live in a hotel, but it burns down. They deside to go to the desert again and rent a house. Rose is pregnant, and devoted to painting and writing.

Main characters: The main characters are Jeanette, Rex, Rose, Brian, and Lori.

Character development: Jeannette doubts her parents, and then she loves them. She still loves fire, but is more aware now.

Setting: In this chapter they live in Las Vegas, San Francisco, and the desert. It takes in the past because Jeannette is four years old.

Quote: "I decided it was possible Mom and Dad might not come back for me." Jeannette says this when she falls out of the car and her parents keep driving. I think its important to this chapter because it shows that Jeannette doubts her parents.
