Summary:  In this chapter we learn about Stefan’s past. He has a brother named Damon, who loved the girl that Stefan loved. Her name was Katherine. Stefan hates Damon for a reason we don’t know yet. In the present Elena decides to break up with her boyfriend Matt. At school she learns lots about Stefan. She creates a plan to talk to him. When she finally does it he cuts her off to go to football tryouts.

Summary: In this chapter Elena is at school. She meets everyone in the parking lot. One of Elena's closest friends Bonnie, says that she's psychic. Her other close friend named Caroline isn't talking to Elena this year because she's mad at her. There's a new guy at school and Elena really likes him. She finds out that his name is Stefan Salvatore. No guy has ever turned Elena down, but Stefan is different. He pays no attention to her.
