Summary: Elena still cares about Stefan. She gets Matt to get Stefan to go to the school dance. At the dance Elena is homecoming queen. When she gets there she finds out that Stefan is at the dance with Caroline. She gets mad and starts hanging out with a different group of people. The group goes to the cemetery and Elena goes with them.

Main characters: In this chapter the main characters are Elena, Stefan, and Caroline.

Character development: Elena was really excited when she found out that Stefan was going to the dance. But when she got there and Stefan was with Caroline she got really mad. She was hurt that Stefan didn't want to dance with her so she went to the cemetery with the "bad" group of kids.

Setting: This chapter takes place in Fell's Church on September 26. They're at Robert E. Lee High School for the school dance.
